Character Interview

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 7, 2009, 6:28 AM
Interview with your characters: (Or in my case, some vampires, a werewolf and Celeste)

1.Choose a few of your own characters. Five at the most.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag three people.
4. Feel free to go ahead and add some questions yourself!!

So. . . who's doing the quiz?:

Some characters from my book, The Amulet of Vichalace.
Celeste (Girl with the magic amulet), Laughlan (her vampire foster father), Rivers (Celeste’s best friend and occasional werewolf) and Fletcher (A vampire who thinks he’s God’s gift to women)

1. What's your favourite food?

Celeste: Food... oh err, I like most things, chocolate, marshmallows... oh and battenburg. I love battenburg cake. Does that help?
Laughlan: I... don’t eat, but the occasional glass of wine does not go amiss.
Rivers: Chocolate digestives.
Fletcher: It used to be kebabs. Though they had the same effect on me back then as they do now. It’s not nice... I only ate them so I could get a day off work when I was alive.

2. Are you a virgin?

Celeste: I’m twenty one and I went through uni for three years.
Rivers: Your father has his fingers in his ears.
Celeste: Well, what about you?
Rivers: You didn’t answer the question.
Fletcher: Virgin’s blood is supposed to be great.
Rivers: Why don’t you keep your opinions to yourself?
Fletcher: You guys have no sense of humour.

3. What kind of movies do you watch?

Celeste: I like adventure movies, and I loved Lord of the Rings, that was great. Oh and Zombieland, I went to see that with Ashley... which was probably not the best choice, but he really enjoyed it. JUST GIVE ME A $£%&ing twinkie!
Laughlan: Celeste, language!
Celeste: Sorry, Dad.
Rivers: Indiana Jones. Any film that can make archaeology popular is fine by me.
Fletcher: Anything, so long as the vampires don’t sparkle.
Celeste: You’re afraid of the competition?
Fletcher: Yeah, I’m real scared of a fang-less vegetarian schoolboy who watches women while they sleep.
Rivers: You stand outside Celeste’s door at night.
Laughlan: You do what, Fletcher..?
Fletcher: Rivers, can we talk outside for a moment? *glares*

4. Are you married?

Celeste: Hah! No! I have a lot of other things to worry about.
Laughlan: No, I died a bachelor.
Rivers: Can we talk about something else, please?
Fletcher: Can vampires even get married? Until death do you pa…. oh wait… you’d just keep going round in circles!

5. Have you ever gotten drunk before?

Celeste: Dad, put your fingers in your ears again…
Laughlan: I know what you got up to at University, Celeste.
Celeste: Just how many agents did you send to spy on me?
Laughlan: I’m not answering that.
Rivers: Last time I got drunk was The Circle Christmas party. I had so many, I got up on stage and played guitar. I was mortified.
Fletcher: For me, it was Sinclair’s last birthday. I was on the blood and the whiskey. When they say don’t mix your drinks… that’s what they mean. I think I ended up chatting up a table leg.
Rivers: And I bet it still turned you down.

6. Do you have a celebrity crush?

Celeste: I have a thing for Robert Downey Junior. Just don’t tell Elias.
Fletcher: You like bad boys?! HELLO!
Laughlan: Celebrities?
Rivers: No. Moving on.

7. Your embarrassing moment?

Celeste: There’s been far too many.
Laughlan: The priest and the onion.
All: What?
Laughlan: Oh it was a long long time ago… I’d only been a vampire for a short time and I accidentally wandered into this church.
Fletcher: As you do…
Laughlan: Well, anyway, I ran into a priest, and well, he worked out what I was, but not having any garlic to hand, he grabbed an onion off the harvest offering and brandished it wildly at me. Of course, I didn’t want to hurt him, so I just ended up pretending that it worked… But shouting ‘Argh, the pain, the pain, it burns’ while backing away from a priest with an onion was not the highlight of my life as one of the immortal undead.
Celeste: You’ve never told me that before.
Laughlan: That’s because it’s embarrassing, Celeste.

8. Your best friends?

Celeste: Katherine and Finola. But from The Circle, probably Rivers, Ashley, Elias and Fletcher.
Laughlan: I appreciate all my staff equally.
Fletcher: Most of the women at The Circle and a few from the Slate Yard.
Celeste: That’s in your dreams, isn’t it?
Fletcher: No, in reality.
Rivers: He’s deluded.

9. Random sayings?

Celeste: “THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!” I say that a lot.
Laughlan: “No we can’t afford the helicopter/laser gun/vamp-mobile on this years Circle budget.”
Rivers: “I grow fur and fangs and growl a lot, you think I can do subtle?”
Fletcher: But I think we could really do with a vamp-mobile, sir.
Laughlan: Have some self respect, James: A VAMP mobile?!
Fletcher: The fan girls would love it… and don’t call me James. It makes me sound like I went to private school or something.

10. If you saw a shooting star right now, what would you wish for?

Celeste: For everyone to just get along… living and dead.
Laughlan: That my daughter is always happy and well.
Celeste: Aww Dad, that’s sweet.
Fletcher: Rivers would ask for a new chew toy.
Rivers: Or for someone to permanently Sellotape your mouth shut.
Fletcher: You’re just jealous because my wish… can’t be written down because it’s just that depraved. Oh yeah :D
Rivers: You’d just wish for a lot of women, Fletcher. Women are scared of you, they slap you then run away. What part of that sounds like fun?
Fletcher: Okay, fine, I’ll just have a candlelit hot tub, some champagne, and Cele-
Celeste: My Dad’s here, Fletcher…
Fletcher: FINE I WONT WISH FOR ANYTHING THEN!!!!

11. What is your favourite word?

Celeste: Spoon. *giggles*
Laughlan: Why would you want to know that? Err honour?
Fletcher: Squidgy.
Rivers: Rocks. Rocks all the way.

12. What song was sung to you when you were a child as you went to sleep?

Celeste: No one sang to me… apart from Sach, and that was more like AWWWWOOO AWWWOOO AWWOOO! Wolves really can’t sing.
Laughlan: I don’t even remember that far back any more.
Fletcher: I don’t do all that cute sentimental stuff.
Rivers: I agree with the vampire.
Fletcher: You do? High five!
Rivers: …no.

13. What was the best day or moment of your life?

Celeste: I know it sounds kinda strange, but it was when I found out the truth about Dad… everything finally made sense.
Laughlan: Every moment spent with Celeste is a blessing.
Rivers: Obtaining my doctorate.
Fletcher: Err, I won some money on the horses once… *looks around awkwardly*

14. How would you describe your voice?

Celeste: My voice? Errr London-like?
Laughlan: Refined.
Rivers: Educated.
Fletcher: Seductive.
Celeste: It’s not, Fletch. Really… it’s not.
Fletcher: Hello there… *winks*
Celeste: *points* Dad, he’s scaring me!

15. Who is your favourite boy/girlfriend(s)?

Celeste: Well, me and Rivers have been through a lot together, so he’s probably the closest friend I have at the moment.
Fletcher: Yeah, like when you woke up with him after the night of a full moon, and he didn’t have his clothes…
Celeste: I TOLD you… we just did some su doku together.
Fletcher: That’s what they all say.
Rivers: *growls*
Laughlan: I used to enjoy going to the theatre and the races with Edward Rathmore and his wife, and Everis, when he wasn’t being an idiot.
Celeste: You like Everis really, he was a good friend when you first came to London.
Laughlan: He annoys me, and he should stay away from you.
Celeste: Err, next question please…

17. Do you have any gifts from your girlfriends/boyfriends from your first date?

Celeste: Elias made me a carved flower for Christmas. He’s going to make me one each year we are… together. *blushes*
Fletcher: My first girlfriend gave me something I needed medicine for.
Rivers: We didn’t need to know that.
Laughlan: I still have Celeste’s first shoes. They were so tiny. :D
Celeste: That’s really embarrassing, Dad.
Rivers: I have a Valentines day card from 1986. There was a girl in my class called Stephanie and we held hands for almost a year.
Celeste: That’s so sweet.
Rivers: Yeah, shame about that fur allergy though. My parents house was like a death trap.

18. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Celeste: I’d like to be a bit taller.
Laughlan: Anything? Being alive again would be nice.
Fletcher: Why change perfection?
All: *eyeball Fletcher*
Rivers: Pain when changing.
Celeste: I thought you said it didn’t hurt.
Rivers: I didn’t want to upset you.
Celeste: Aww Darren…

Just then, there’s a call on Laughlan’s mobile. It plays the theme to Ghostbusters.
Celeste: It’s the green button to accept, Dad.
Laughlan: Oh… err yes, I knew that… Oh, hello Damon. Trouble you say? We’ll be right there.

The interview ends…

19. Who are you going to tag?
Anyone who can be bothered to do this too :D

Hope you enjoyed! Zoe x

That Time of the Year

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 3:45 AM
I don't know if any of you know about this wonderful pandemic called Swine Flu, but Matt has it and now I'm his 'flu friend' I don't know if that's a proper medical term, but when I went to collect his perscription (seeing as he's not allowed anywhere near anyone at the moment) I had to sign a form saying I was his 'flu friend' - which is a lot more glam than it sounds. Anyway, he's now in bed, and I'm sitting down to get started on my NaNoRiMo story.

NaNoRiMo is the fancy shortening of National November Writing Month, where fools... I mean brave souls like myself, put pen to paper to try and create a 50,000 word novel in a month. I'm on Day 4 and so far 10,543 words, and I haven't even started todays session yet. It's a really strange thing as you just have to write. Normally I plan, and have ideas and go back, change things, but the idea is to just keep going, not to think too much and just splurge all your words out into a document that will hopefully form a novel. It's too early to tell what this thing is turning into, but I will keep you posted. I'm trying to write the back story of my Persephone-type character Bryony, and how she ended up as the love interest of Lord Dashiel, the Lord of the Netherworld in my fantasy Willowhayne story set up. So far she's just got divorced from her first ' prince ' as he was cheating on her, and is in a complete mess after being saved from throwing herself out of a window by my Death character, Carver... woop... I can just tell this is going to be a classic. *chuckles*

In other news, I have joined a roller derby team and need a name. If anyone can think of one - they are usually name puns on famous people or phrases- I would be most appreciative. I would share my ideas so far but apparently there's a big thing of registering names, and I wouldn't want to lose one of the few good ones I had. Apparently there's a Drew Barrymore film called Whip It! about the sport, but they even went to registering the names of the girls in the film as well, so no one can use those either. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I do have more art coming, but none of it's finished, so there might be a giant glut soon. I'm trying out some new colouring ideas and stuff, so watch this space.

Right, back to my flu buddy and writing about a demonic love story.
My life could not be more random.

Take care all, huge hugs and cookies from the wolves,

Zoe xx

Really Quickly

Wed Oct 21, 2009, 5:41 AM
My internet has been down for over a month so I am SO SO sorry to everyone who thought I'd vanished off the face of the Earth. I have literally just got it back, and have hundereds of deviations, messages and emails to get through. I will try to reply to everyone - I now have so much to do!!! Anyway, yes I am here now *fingers crossed* and when I'm straight will be posting some art :D

Laters!

Moving on Out

Thu Sep 17, 2009, 2:50 PM
The day has come.
Tomorrow we move to our first house... and I can't wait. Our apartment is FILLED with boxes and bags and I just want to sort everything out, get my new workstation up and running (FINALLY I WILL HAVE ROOM FOR MY WACOM- WAHOO) and gush about how great having an outdoor washing line is. I never thought the day would come when I'd get excited about having a garden either. I hated going round garden centres when I was a child, now it's like... ohh let's go to Homebase... it's so wrong!

Anyway, that's where most of my time will be spent for the next week and a bit, as we have to get our old apartment cleaned up and ready to be left, and sort quite a lot of things out at the new place too. I am really excited about finally having our car too - as before we had to park it at Matt's parents as there was no parking at our apartment complex... now we can go for drives and get shopping and all sorts! I guess it's only when you don't have these kind of things that you really appreciate it when you get them back. *bounces happily*

In other news, I've still got loads of comissions to do, so I'm afraid the DA art is a tad slow, as it's not stuff I can put up here, but hopefully soon I will be doodling out some more pictures. Maybe I should post more of my pencil work, as so much just gets shoved into a big folder and never inked. I am also working hard on lots of writing and after the move plan on finally getting Book 2 into motion. If no publisher will take it, I'll just have to Lulu it. If anyone has had any experience with them, please let me know how you found them. It would be really useful to me. Thanks ;)

Okies, well I had better sign off.
Take care all and hugs from me,

I will be back soon.
Cookies and wolves,

Zoe xx
