The Sadness of a Good Vampire

Description

I still really want to colour this normally, but I love the old fashioned effect I created on the inks alone.

This is Laughlan, the vampire from my book The Amulet of Vichalace. He used to be a noble Lord who ran an estate in the English countryside, but was bitten by a vampire as he made his way home alone one evening, after visiting another estate.

He was found by some villagers who took him back to his home, but one of his staff had seen the mark on his neck and knew that even though their Lord would awake, he would no longer be human...

As Lord Laughlan was very much loved by his staff, being a kindly old man who had never married, and the nearest physician was out that night, Ellen, the one who had seen the mark, said nothing and agreed to take care of him and dress his wounds.
Laughlan had taken her poverty stricken family when she was just a baby and given both her father and mother jobs within the estate. She felt as though she owed him something, so blacked out the windows in his room and forbade anyone to enter.

Cutting a long story short, Ellen knew about the supernatural and had heard the vampire rumour which had been going about the village after a number of men and women were found dead along the old path up to Laughlan's estate. Many blamed it on highwaymen, but she knew better. When Laughlan finally awoke, she told him what she feared, and realising that what she said was true, he ran from the estate and hid down in the family vaults, just staring at his pale hands while his heart refused to beat.

Being a good man by nature, Laughlan feared he would hurt someone, and had always been brought up as a religious, God fearing man...but he certainly didn't feel evil...nor did the lust for blood consume him...and underneath his shirt he still wore the cross pendant he had been given by his father as a young man.

Still...he was now dead. He was a vampire, and he knew from that moment on, he would never fulfil his one desire in life- to have a child of his own. People would hate and fear him and he would have to hide away from the sun forever...A thought that almost broke him.

Poor Laughlan- but as we know he get's to adopt Celeste, so all is well :D Anyway, enjoy this for now...I rarely draw him as I'm so bad at it, but anyway, here we go. Hope you all like it.

Oh, Laughlan, *huggles him*
This is not bad, this is wonderful! It's totally him, looking all sad and old-fashioned and brooding.

So ... does he go out and kill his sire? And when does he meet Everis? (Translation: when can I start slashing them like the devious fangirl I am?)

Ellen sounds great. I love her already.
