Based on a short story I wrote about Lord Dashiel, the Lord of the Underworld in my Willowhayne books, who takes Princess Bryony and makes her his wife. However, mortals can be tricky creatures, especially if they are not sterotypical maidens who also have a healthy appetite. I peronally love pomegranates, so after such an ordeal, I think I'd be having a good old chow-down as well!

The other character is Vester, Lord Dashiel's right hand man...err demon... who is actually the gatekeeper of the afterlife and a thousand times more powerful than any other demon in the underworld, yet chooses to be a rather subservant and quiet figure who does a lot of paperwork. He's quite a sweety really and doesn't always approve of Lord Dashiel's methods, but puts up with him as he's quite good at heart and does his job of keeping the damned souls under control really quite well.

Byrony and Dashiel do end up quite in love, but then I'm a sap for this kind of thing and always thought in the Persephone story, she really loved Hades and actually quite liked being the first lady of the underworld... I mean... seriously... who wouldn't?!?!

Enjoy!

I have to say, though the seed-kernels are bitchy, I would do the same in Bryony's place.

:) I guess I would too. I'd probably ask for a death by chocolate cake as well!

haha! I could eat tons more pomegranates than chocolate. Don't get me wrong - love chocolate - who doesn't? But pomegranates are one of my top favourite fruits and they're sooo refreshing. I love Greek myths too, specially this one.

My book's a bit of a twist on the legend, at least it will be when I get round to finishing it. I don't like heroines who can't look after themselves and all my demons have to be nice, unless they are gettings mited by the good guys lol!

That's true, it gets a bit one sided and boring if you have totally innocent, weak characters and evil characters. I prefer all characters to be in varying shades of good and bad - even the worst redeemable, and the best with flaws.

Hey again, I was just looking through your gallery when I stumbled across this. I don't think I quite got the joke, but Dashiel's expression at the end was pretty funny XD

Oh! and it's nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks that the story of Hades and Persephone is...well...great? (not sure what the right word is >.< ) Well, the point is that it's a refreshing change from just reading about one of the other Gods' one-time flings behind their wife/husband's back. >.>;
